Another very important difference is who or what is the central theme of the church meeting about. Some talk a lot about community service, others talk about doing good or being good, a few talk about saints, and even fewer glorify the Lord Jesus Christ.
In Acts 2:46 and 47, the Bible reveals some important truths about the first century church. It says: "And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved."
Even though these believers did not yet have any church buildings to go to, they met daily. They thought nothing of meeting together every day to worship God with fellow Christians. They were glad to know the Savior and wanted Him to know they were very thankful for such a great salvation.
When other people saw their joy, unity, love, and personal sacrifice, it encouraged others to want to be saved. Personally, I enjoy being in a church that preaches the Bible clearly and where the people love one another. I enjoy the good music and overall friendliness of the church people. It has enabled me to keep going for Christ through the years. I know that it can have the same effect on you, too.
If you do not have a church home that you attend regularly, it is time to find one. The Lord tells His people to be faithful and meet together, and it is even more important in these last days. All around us we see many hearts growing cold. To prevent this, He commands us: "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching" (Heb. 10:25).
If Christ comes back this Sunday morning - will He find you where He told you to be?
