People are having to be evacuated any way they can, the news is telling us. Water is being seen everywhere and it is continuing to rise. So far, reports are that more than 2,000 have been rescued already - and it seems like many more rescues are needed. Millions of people are being affected by it.
The reports show that vehicles of all kinds are carrying people out of the city. I have to wonder why they were not told to evacuate ahead of the storm, instead of having now to spend all kind of money for rescue efforts after the fact. A number of shelters have been opened.
Unfortunately, it appears that the damage from this severe storm is not over. Some forecasters say it may well strike Houston again after it re-enters the Gulf and then comes back ashore - near Houston.

Comments: I am praying for the people of this city. It is certainly hard to understand the plight of so many who are going through this dilemma.
I want to say that God is not silent, and that He is fully aware of the troubles generated from this storm. He looks at the whole picture, however, and the good that may ultimately come of it. He wants you to look to Him - for salvation , for help, and for guidance.
Ps 30:5 "For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning."
I want to encourage you to read more about why God sometimes permits such things on my blog post, entitled: God, Hurricanes, and the Promise of Ultimate Good.
