As you probably know, this is Palm Sunday. It is a day to remember when Christ presented Himself to Israel as their King and future Deliverer. He fulfilled prophecy that said He would come riding a colt, in Zechariah 9:9: "Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass." Many glorified Him on that day as the promised "Son of David," which is a clear reference to Christ.
Others cried out and asked who it was they were celebrating because they did not know. It was an opportunity for all to know and rejoice with the others.
Many got in on the activity. Others participated in the shouting and had a time of feeling good. Unfortunately, as is true today, many did not have a heart belief. It was just an emotion for them.
You see, it was this same crowd that one week later would be yelling out: "Crucify Him." The same people. There was no conversion. Emotion, Yes, but for many there was no change of heart – no repentance of sin.
No doubt there are many people today who will join in the celebration of that great day. Many consider themselves to be believers, but their actions betray them. Real faith in Christ produces fruit to His honor, and it is not limited to the good times.
Is your faith in Christ real? Do you honor Him when others do not? Do you honor Him in your private life?
Why not tell Christ afresh that you love Him and want to serve Him truly to His glory, and that you want to do it seven days a week? Don't let the joy of the day end without any heartfelt commitment.
He blesses those who truly honor Him.
