By the time the wise men arrived at where Jesus was, it is important to see that they went to a house - not to a manger scene. Also note that Christ is in this verse called a "young child" – not a Babe any longer. He is probably somewhere around two years old by this time.
When the wise men came to the place where the Lord was, there was no cooing at His cuteness, or even any wanting to hold Him. They did not see a cute Babe, or even a cute young child – they saw the Lord of glory.
Their instant reaction as soon as they came into his presence was to fall down before Him and worship. They understood their place in the presence of the King of kings, and the Lord of lords.
Also observe that they knew Who to worship. It was not Mary, but the Lord. These men were truly wise.
Too many people today do not realize Who Christ really is. They play with the Lord's commandments as though they are nothing, and often ignore Him completely.
Unfortunately for them, He does notice. He wants to save and He wants to bless. The Bible also tells us, however, that there is a Judgment Day coming, and the one Who they treated like a Babe – is not the One they thought He was.
Are you ready to meet Him Who holds the stars in place, and Who will avenge every sin – unless forgiven through Christ? Remember that His birth was necessary so that He could go to the Cross! This was why He came.
