Many warnings are being given by the CDC, Doctors Without Borders, WHO, etc., that indicates the ability to control it is just about past. Other recent news articles have said that the Ebola virus has an 18 percent chance of coming to the United States by the end of this month.
Just a couple of days ago, the death toll from Ebola in the four western African nations of Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria was just above 1,900. Today WHO reported the death toll as 2,105.
The country with the most deaths is Liberia, where the count is about half of the total - 1,089. Nigeria still has the least with only eight. These numbers do not include the death toll from DR Congo, where it is a different strain.
It is good to see a number of nations helping to try and curb this disease. These poor nations are not equipped to handle the crisis on their own – which is why it is still out of control. It is also evident that more needs to be done because it will only continue to spread unless broader services are given and greater manpower be utilized.
It is an excellent opportunity for Christian organizations to bring the Gospel to these people. Of course, some medical organizations are already present and doing just that. Christians need to be praying for their healing and spiritual healing, too, through Christ.
Thanks God for the healing of the Dr. Brantly and Nancy Whitebol. Now Rick Sacra is in a hospital in Nebraska and he needs the prayers of believers, too.
Let me remind believers that the greatest need of any person is spiritual. You can heal the body, but if the soul goes to Hell, it is only a temporary victory. Eternity is forever, and there is no substitute preparation or remedy for it. Remember Christ's true words in Mark 8:36: "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" Christ is still the greatest Healer there ever was or will be!
