The large study involved more than 240,000 people. All of them were 45 or older. They were watched for over six years.
At the end of the study, they were categorized into three groups: less vigorous, moderately vigorous, and very vigorous – more than 30 percent of the time. The most vigorous performed activities such as competitive tennis, jogging, and aerobics.
The end results showed that those who did the most vigorous exercises lowered their risk of mortality by 13 percent. The second most moderate group only lowered their risk of mortality by nine percent.
The study also revealed that doing some vigorous exercise – no matter your condition or current health, can extend your life.
