Possibly hundreds more people are still trapped under the rubble in the capital city and nearby towns. The earthquake spread across a wide area, even reaching into India, Tibet, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.
Climbers on Mt. Everest were also affected, and at least 10 climbers are dead. They were killed when the earthquake triggered multiple avalanches on the mountain. Avalanches also struck base camp, where at least 30 people have been injured and more are missing.
Many homes and historic buildings, including temples, were demolished from the quake. The hospitals are so overcrowded that the medical staff is treating people in the parking lots.
Tens of thousands of people will most likely be sleeping in the streets tonight, for fear of aftershocks.
Comment: The people affected by the earthquake need prayer, as well as help. Pray that some might find Christ during this time and that believers may have opportunities to witness.
