Some doctors at recent conventions, however, believe that the numbers are considerably higher than 100. Many of them had seen cases since August 1st, and some – around the country – had seen more than five cases of paralysis or partial paralysis – now being referred to as acute flaccid myelitis.
Doctors were also asked how many of them knew of patients with this paralysis that had recovered, and only a couple had seen any improvement. At this point, they do not know what to do to prevent it or to help eliminate the problem.
One good thing about it, though, is that the cooler weather seems to have drastically slowed down the number of new infections. Doctors have no idea whether or not it will be back next year.
