The terrorists, who told someone in the office that they were al Qaeda, wore hoodies and were armed with Ak-47's, and one of them carried a rocket launcher. In the bloodshed, they killed 10 journalists, a receptionist, and one police officer. Another eight people were injured, four of which are in serious condition.
As they were leaving, they are reported to have said "the prophet is avenged." They also shouted the familiar "Allahu Akbar" ("God is great").
The president of the company was in London at the time. The office had been firebombed about four years ago because of a cartoon mocking Mohammed. A bodyguard of the company's president was also one of the people killed.
The three gunmen got away. They abandoned their car and then stole another one. There is now an ongoing massive manhunt underway in Paris to arrest them.
President Francois Hollande is saying that this was a terrorist attack. President Obama said that the U.S. was ready "to provide any assistance needed to help bring these terrorists to justice." The French Muslim Council had this to say about the attack: the "extremely grave barbaric action is also an attack against democracy and the freedom of the press."
