Thank God that He alone is my salvation - and yours if you have trusted Christ to be your Savior. My salvation, and yours, does not depend on such fickle things that I do - or don't do - but it depends only on what the Lord Jesus Christ has done for me.
Some people count on their ability or efforts to try and keep the Ten Commandments. No one has ever fully kept the Ten Commandments - not even the first one - let alone the other nine. The first commandment is: "Thou shalt have no other gods before me" (Ex. 20:3) This means that we are to love Him first, before ourselves. In James 2:10, we are told: "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all."
The Lord left Heaven to become Jesus who was born (only His human nature) in a manger. If we could be saved by our own "good deeds" then He did not need to come. He came to open the door to Heaven and to the Father - the God of all. This was symbolized by the curtain in the Temple being rent from top to bottom when Jesus died (Mt. 27:51).
Because believers not only have trusted Christ for salvation, they also have Him living within them to guide, comfort, and keep them. Now that is something to sing about!
