In an area near the Mosul dam, Kurdish Peshmerga forces were able to reclaim an area. They were able to free seven villages.
More than 200 ISIS fighters were killed in the action. They were planning to use and actually launched car bombs to attack with, but 14 were destroyed.
In another province, ISIS had prepared three lines of defense to ensure attacking forces could not break through. The precise positions of these defenses were learned, and the Shiite militia was able to destroy them.
As the forces in Iraq move closer to Mosul, the largest city held by ISIS, reports are coming in of "commando cells" carrying out attacks against ISIS in the city. They have been nicknamed "Mosul Liberation Battalions," and have already killed a large number of terrorists in the city. Some senior ISIS members have been killed by these resistance fighters.
Japan continues to try and reach ISIS to discuss the two hostages that the terrorist organization holds. So far, there has been no reply. They initially gave Japan 72 hours to pay $200 million for their release.
