The water rose so fast that rescue squads were kept busy. About 160 water rescues had to be performed as the roads quickly turned into rivers.
In eastern Kentucky, a tree fell in a campground and a camper was killed. It fell on the tent.
In the city, a mother and a baby were swept away by fast moving water into a creek. They have not been located yet.
The fire is in a warehouse owned by GE. It contains plastics used in the manufacture of appliances, and nearby residents have been told to keep their windows closed and stay indoors. The fire, which started this morning, may burn through Saturday morning. No injuries have been reported there.
