Christian evangelism in North Korea is illegal. Since his arrest he has been waiting for trial.
Jeffrey is 56, is married, and has three children. He is also a member of the Urbancrest Baptist Church in Lebanon, Ohio, and was glad to be able to attend services there today.
Several people were involved in his release. It included retired diplomat, former Ohio Congressman Tony Hall, and the countries of Sweden, China, Japan, and Mongolia. North Korea is currently still holding two Americans who have been sentenced to years in prison.
Note: I rejoice that this man has been released from prison. Praise God for that, and for the efforts of many people to help him get free. Their work has paid off and God used them to free Jeffrey.
I am not sure, however, what a Christian is doing at a nightclub. I also do not know if leaving the Bible there was deliberate or not. Anyway, Christians need to uphold Christ carefully and should not frequent dens of iniquity. The Bible tells us to "Abstain from all appearance of evil" (1Thessalonians 5:22).
