Shigella is commonly found in places where there are contaminated pools of water, and in contaminated food. It typically causes diarrhea. Cases are typically seen among those who have travelled to India or to the Dominican Republic.
The outbreaks in the U.S. are being seen in Massachusetts, California, and in Pennsylvania. They are also being seen in daycares where the staff may not be washing their hands that often, and in Puerto Rico.
The superbug is resistant to the antibiotics typically given to children (azithromycin) and adults (ciprofloxacin, or Cipro). People in 32 states have been infected in recent years, but officials are wondering if it isn't already here to stay.
Comments: The Bible continues to be true and amazingly accurate. We are seeing it being fulfilled nearly every day. The increased violence (terrorism), the "wars and rumors of wars" (from Iran, Russia, North Korea, etc.), pestilences, evil becoming stronger and more rampant, lawlessness, etc.
Among Christians, it is also being seen in that many are becoming cold toward Christ – the Laodicean Church of Revelation 3. Child of God, be praying for a Holy Ghost revival. The lost need to hear! Time is getting short. I once heard it said that you are either taking the Gospel to the mission field or you are the mission field!
