The mother, Lynn Groesbeck of Springville, had apparently hit a concrete barrier and then the car went into the water. The mother was dead when the car was found.
Another person who was nearby when the accident is believed to have happened had heard something, but was unable to locate the car. That noise occurred at around 10:30pm on Friday. The car was found about 12:30pm the next day.
Although the car was in the water and flowing through it, it never touched the baby, who was suspended above it by the seat belt. Police and firefighters who went into the water had to be treated for hypothermia.
