Flu season comes every year to America. It is probably because it comes around yearly that many people think so little of it. We have come to expect it. We also see the signs for flu shots on billboards and other news media every year.
The truth is that flu (influenza) actually kills more people every year than Ebola will – at least on average. The CDC says that over the past 30 years there has been between 3,000 to 49,000 deaths from flu annually. Possibly the worst years were 2009-2010, in which a strain of flu (H1N1) and pneumonia resulted in 54,000 deaths.
While medication for Ebola is still in the development stage, flu shots are usually abundantly available. The people who are most likely to experience serious trouble from flu include young children, the elderly, and those who already have some kind of health problem. Flu vaccines are available through either a shot or nasal spray.
