This indicates that the world is now closer to nuclear war than it ever was during the Cold War days. The primary reason for this moving of the clock is because world leaders are no longer will to negotiate or listen to organizations that can help prevent war.
A group called the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists created the clock in 1947. Some of its group is made up of more than one dozen Nobel Prize winners. The closer to midnight that the clock's hands are, the group says, it symbolizes the closeness to an apocalypse the earth faces.
Certainly, the threat of a nuclear war is not a good thing. Everything possible should be done to prevent it. Biblically, however, it is not the greatest threat to mankind. That danger is a spiritual one.
The greatest danger to any human is to stand before God without having his or her sins forgiven. While events here certainly can destroy the body, the Bible says to "fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell" (Mt. 10:28).
Death is a gateway to eternity. We are all eternal creatures merely passing through this world. While here, we are making preparations for eternity - either to eternal bliss in glory or to eternal damnation in Hell.
Christ is the only Door to Heaven. He will forgive the sins of any that come to Him in repentance, believing that His payment on the Cross for sin is all that is needed to save the soul, as John 3:16 tells us: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
In order to be sure of eternal life, simply call on Him in prayer and ask Him to forgive you of your sin and save you. He wants you to serve Him afterward out of thanksgiving.
