The husband – Jorge Beltrao Negromonte da Silveira – was given 23 years, his wife – Isabel Cristina Pires, received 20 years, and his mistress – Bruna Cristina Oliveira da Silva – also received 20 years. The three of them lured prospective nannies to their home, and then killed them.
The sentencing was only for one woman they killed. Afterwards they ate part of her body, cooked other parts into pastries and served them to their neighbors. The rest of her body was buried in their back yard.
This sentencing was only for the first woman. The trio has confessed to killing at least two more women. The sentencing for those cases will occur later.
Police claim that they found a book written by Jorge entitled: Revelations of a Schizophrenic. In the book he said that he heard voices and was "fixated" on killing women. The trio claimed to be part of a group that promoted "the purification of the world and the reduction of its population."
Comments: It seems to me that cannibalism is occurring more frequently around the world. Or, it could be that we are just more aware of it because of the Internet.
In either case, it shows that the devil is still at work. People need the Lord Jesus Christ to set them free from such darkness. Thank God that He is able and can bring any person who will come to Him for salvation into His glorious light and truth! Their past does not matter!
For those who choose to walk in darkness, we are told in Job 34:22: "There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves." By coming to the light of Christ willingly, He can remove the guilt of sin, the penalty of sin (Hell), and provide a new life with power to live right. It is a most joyous salvation!
