The announcement of the new fence came from King Abdullah on Friday. He said it is the first stage, and its goal was to keep out various infiltrators, including drug, arms, and cattle smugglers. He also said he intends to reduce the infiltration rate to zero.
The fence is to have five layers to it. It will also include watch towers, night-vision cameras, and 50 radars.
Part of the reason for the fence is because Saudi Arabia and Iraq has had tension building between the two nations. As would be expected, nations are realizing that rebels and terrorist organizations are spreading and they are a real threat to any civilized society. The original plans for the fence have expanded from just having a fence with electronic monitoring.
In the last days the Bible tells us that "And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet" (Matthew 24:6). This certainly is happening now.
The Bible has never been wrong. It is being fulfilled and the world is heading in the direction the Bible promised. The Christian believer is to be looking up for Christ's soon return – rather than growing fearful of what is happening down here. Thank God that we know the whole story – and it is good!
