This city of about 1.2 million people heard the blast and thought an explosion had occurred. Instead, the meteor passed by, and left a crater near the airport of about 39 feet (12 meters) across.
When the meteorite hit, it was marked by two seismic events. The first one was the actual meteor strike hitting the earth. The second one was caused when the sound wave hit.
The government went out to see it. It is not known yet whether there is any actual meteor beneath the soil or if it simply burned up completely. The authorities in Nicaragua will be contacting the US Geological Service to come and investigate it further.
I mentioned just the other day in the earlier article about this meteor that there are many "near-earth object" out there that could strike earth. I also mentioned that God will one day make it happen and the "star of heaven" will fall.
It seems that God is firing a shot across the bow, reminding us that time is short before things get really serious. This one, as far as we know now, hurt no one. Although near the airport, no aircraft were delayed and the airport was not shut down.
I might also add here that none of us know when our time is come to meet God. With such warnings and gentle reminders, isn't it time you called on Christ to save you – if you haven't already?
Christian, you know He is coming soon. Are you living for Him now so that you can meet Him unashamed?
