Last month, it was discovered that an infected cleric, an Imam, had exposed many hundreds of people to Ebola before he died. In fact, it is possible that as many as 500 people had direct contact with him.
The Imam's symptoms were misdiagnosed. Medical staff thought it was a kidney infection at first, but he had come from Guinea.
So far, only six people have died in Mali. These new developments, however, means that WHO will be heading to Mali right away and setting up a new support center there. It also means that WHO has had to change its tentative dates as to when Ebola might be brought under control in West Africa.
