This year, for instance, India reported that there were more than 58,000 babies who died because of superbugs. The bacterial infections could not be controlled.
Another article by Scientific American reveals how difficult it is becoming to control drug resistant bacteria. It is not a very pretty picture.
The article predicts that there will be 300 million deaths caused prematurely through antimicrobial resistance (AMR). They say that this many will die from superbugs between now and the year 2050.
This many deaths is also sure to affect the economy, too. They say that the cost to the global economy to try to treat people with these superbugs, and to work to develop new drug solutions will cost in the neighborhood of $300 trillion.
Researchers do not believe that the nations are performing enough research now to keep up with the speed at which new super-bacteria are developing. This will soon lead to the massive number of deaths predicted.
Comment: Scripture teaches that in the last days there will be many deaths caused by diseases and pestilences. While the prophecies particularly point to the Tribulation period, it could rather easily be understood how the problem could certainly develop before that time. Once again, this article from Scientific American verifies the authenticity of the Word of God and it also clearly indicates that our God is all-knowing – including of the future.
