The study was performed using 447,357 non-Hispanic whites, who answered survey questions. It was conducted by the US National Cancer Institute, and Erikka Loftfield was the researcher, who works in the division of cancer epidemiology and genetics
The subjects were first analyzed in 1995/1996, and then again 10 years later. All of them were also cancer-free initially.
The study concluded with medical news that those who drank four cups had the least amount of cancer – about 20 percent less. It also revealed that there was a progressive amount of protection among those who drank more coffee, with four cups offering the most.
The study did not look at the differences offered between caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee.
So, coffee drinkers, now you may have another good reason (or excuse) to stop by Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts and enjoy another cup!
