In the Old Testament, God let Israel know that if they want salvation – physical and spiritual – only He can give it. He alone is the Source of everything that is good.
It needs to also be observed that this verse teaches that the salvation He provides is not just for a select few. No, it is not just for people that live within a certain geographic location – it is for everyone in the entire earth.
Since He invites the entire earth to look to Him, it also strongly suggests that the entire earth will not be saved unless they do. When God provides salvation, it provides it for all. He does, however, only open one door to His Home.
Just a couple of verses before the one mentioned above, in verse 17 God says: "But Israel shall be saved in the LORD with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end." His invitation is to Israel and to all the earth. When they trust Him, He promises that you will not be ashamed in the end that you did.
A couple of verses earlier (vs. 15), Isaiah writes: "Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour." The "Savior" mentioned here is Christ, as seen in Titus 2:13: "Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ."
Finally, notice that salvation is obtained by looking unto Christ. It does not say to keep the Commandments, join a church or other religion, be baptized or confirmed. It merely says look unto Christ for salvation. In other words, believe that Christ is God's only provision for your sins and call on Him for salvation. He died to pay for your sins and He will wash them away if you will choose to believe on Him.
This verse is God's invitation to you to call on Him and be saved today. Why not call on Him now if you never have before? He will gladly receive you.
After you call on Him for salvation, He wants you to live for Him according to the Bible.
