The intention of the 19-year old, Shannon Conley, was to go to Syria and marry a terrorist who she had met online. She had been training as a nurse and was willing to use her skills as a nurse's aide to help ISIS' fighters.
As her interest in marriage grew, the FBI came across what she was trying to do. They personally met with her and warned her not to continue to pursue that course of action. She had also walked around the property of a suburban Denver church and took notes about the layout of the buildings.
"Jihad Shannon," as some came to call her, as arrested at the Denver airport as she tried to board a flight with a one-way ticket to Turkey. She later pleaded guilty to conspiracy to give support to a terrorist organization.
Shannon has been sentenced to four years in prison. Her sentence was reduced one year because she cooperated with the FBI after her arrest.
