The Son of God lived among us mortals as a Man so that we could see that God cares. He even walked among the poor, the sick, the sinners, and others.
While here, He taught 12 men who would carry on His work – all except for one. When it came time, as prophesied by Daniel (Daniel 9:26), we see Jesus on the Cross, and there He paid our debt. The Christian world especially remembers what Jesus did on the day we call Good Friday.
This day, Good Friday, perhaps shows two things more than any other day. It reveals:
- Just how sinful we really are – it took the Son of God's death on the Cross to redeem us; nothing else could do it.
- Just how holy God is – He cannot overlook sin, but must punish it one day – even when it is on His sinless Son.
God is good. He loved us enough to send Christ to die for us. He certainly did not have to do it. The crucifixion of Jesus was good news to those who believe, and to those who will yet believe on Christ.
Before Jesus the Man really died, He cried out three of the most powerful words ever uttered: "It is finished." At that very moment, the sins of all of humanity had been paid for in full. Because of Christ, man's relationship with God could be restored, simply by believing that that was why Christ came – and confessing your need of that gift, and turning to God to serve Him.
Many people know of what Christ did, but I'm afraid that few get their sins forgiven and receive eternal life. Yes, my friend, He died to give you eternal life. Jesus crucifixion was for you, no matter who you are. Call on Him now and turn from your sin in your heart, and ask Him to save you right now – and He will. He said, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me" (John 12:32).
