Each of the attacks was at two mosques: one inside, and then the other would detonate the vest as they fled. A fifth suicide bomber was unsuccessful except in killing himself.
ISIS has claimed support for the bombings, but this has not been verified. Although the Huthis, a group of Shiite Muslims who captured the palace least week and forced the president to resign, are very active, apparently they are not responsible for these bombings. The president fled on Thursday to the city of Aden, where the conflict continues.
The predominant terrorist group in Yemen is al-Qaeda. This move by ISIS is sure to bring about a response from them. ISIS has threatened to kill all Huthis because, to them, they are infidels, and they believe that they are receiving support from Iran.
ISIS has claimed that these bombings are to be considered as just “the tip of the iceberg.”
